RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) U15 Prep
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg came into Saturday having lost a pair of razor-thin games against BWC Academy and St. George’s School, eager to get back in the win column to improve their record above .500 again. Pilot Mound Hockey Academy’s Gage Romanchuk had made north of forty saves three previous times this season and would face down the barrel of yet another all-out offensive push from their opponents. RHA Winnipeg hit the PMHA net with 47 shots in all, and RHAW’s big guns came out strong. Nicholas Buhay’s 27 saves on 27 shots earned him his second shutout of the season and two points apiece from Easton Pitz (1G, 1A) and Declan Champagne (2A) propelled RHAW to a tightly fought victory.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (1) vs Delta Hockey Academy Black (10) U15
Delta Hockey Academy Black’s U15 team lost their first and do date only game of the season at the hands of Yale Hockey Academy two weeks ago, but before and after that result, DHAB had been rolling through their opponents red-hot. That trend continued into Saturday’s clash with RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna, whose efforts keep them in the game into the second period, but couldn’t keep them close for long. Delta Black got three or more points apiece from seven players, including Stefano Trentalance’s two goals and two assists leading the way to a 10-1 win.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (2) vs Edge School (7) U17
The Notre Dame Hounds bested Edge School U17 back on October 4, but since then, Edge has shaken off every opponent, their latest clash coming in the form of three games in three days against RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg. The first ended in a 3-1 Edge School victory, one in which they outshot RHAW 47-19. The shots on goal margin Saturday would end up being significantly closer, but unfortunately for RHAW, the scoreboard didn’t follow in suit. Edge School raced to a 3-0 lead early in the second period, leading 3-0 less than five minutes in. RHA Winnipeg scored a pair of powerplay goals in the second to pull themselves back in the game, but once they got it close, Edge School only pulled away further. Chase Miles stopped 35 of 37 he faced for Edge and Kyden Bartole’s four assists led the way to a 7-2 win.
Prairie Hockey Academy (1) vs OHA Edmonton (13) U15
OHA Edmonton’s U15 squad have had a season of mixed result heading into Saturday, but as happens to a team every so often, they played a game in which everything went right. Prairie Hockey Academy had won their previous game coming into Saturday, but by the end of the first period against OHA Edmonton, the game was out of PHA’s hands. Max Holland (3G, 1A) scored a hat-trick and Ben LaBossiere (1G, 4A) picked up five points in a 13-1 win.
Prairie Hockey Academy (4) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (1) U18 Prep
Prairie Hockey Academy looked to continue the momentum they’d built with four consecutive victories when they face Pilot Mound Hockey Academy on Saturday. The two teams played Friday and will again Sunday. The first of the three-game series ended with a 7-3 PHA win, and unfortunately for PMHA, the second wouldn’t produce any better a result. PMHA didn’t fail for offensive opportunities in the game, but every chance they got, Drake Mooney (39/40) was there to make the save for Prairie. Two points apiece from Liam Kilfoil (1G, 1A), Lucas Graham (2A), and Seamus Dillon (2A) led the way on the scoring side of things for Prairie to prevail 4-1.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (4) vs Prairie Hockey Academy (2) U17 Prep
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg’s U17 Prep team failed to score in yesterday’s clash with Prairie Hockey Academy to start their weekend set of games, losing 2-0 to the same Prairie Hockey Academy squad they’d face on Saturday. RHAW’s powerplay went to work early on Saturday, however, with two goals in the first four and a half minutes. The second of those two came off the stick of Sullivan Brown, who wouldn’t be done there. Prairie pushed back, but every time they got close, Bowen would strike again. He finished the game with a hat-trick to lead RHAW to a 4-2 win.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (3) vs Edge School (2) U15 Prep
Both the Northern Alberta Xtreme and Edge School have been among the best in the U15 Prep division so far this season, and their head-to-head battle Saturday was a tale of two games within one; the first dominated by NAX and the second by Edge. NAX outshot Edge 19-6 in the first period, Edge outshot NAX 18-4 in the third, and the second period was split in two. In NAX’s period of domination, they’d score thrice, through Malakai Andrews, Justin Castonguay, and Rylan Edwards. That look a three-goal lead into the third, but of course, the third period was Edge School’s turn to take over. Unfortunately for the Mountaineers, they didn’t leave themselves enough time to complete the comeback, with goals from Luke Van Waes and Cruz Schwabe the only two for Edge School. Zayden Maclean made 38 saves on 40 shots in the NAX victory.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (4) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (5/OT) U15 Prep
The middle ground has been the seasons of both the Calgary International Hockey Academy and South Alberta Hockey Academies; SAHA came in with a .500 record and CIHA sat just above. Saturday’s game swung both directions, with three straight SAHA goals eventually sending them into the last five minutes of the third period up by two goals. From there, though, it was Jase Morey for CIHA to drag them back in the game. Morey scored twice for CIHA to help them tie the game and force overtime, but come OT, SAHA had all the chances. Mark Ma would pick the perfect time to score his first gal of the season, netting the overtime winner in South Alberta’s win.
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3) vs Yale Hockey Academy (8) U15
Saturday’s U15 clash between the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy and Yale Hockey Academy looked like PCHA’s day early on, with a goal from Finnegan Follick merely 40 seconds into the game seemingly sending the Sea Devils on their way. Their lead lasted nine minutes. Following that, Yale owned the game. From 1-0 down, Yale picked up two goals from RJ Livingson and three points from Jack Hagen (1G, 2A) in the comeback effort. They’d score four in the second period to send them on the road to an 8-3 win.
Kuper Academy (5) vs Stanstead College (0) East U17 Prep
Stanstead College, despite their best efforts, couldn’t to much to ultimately dissuade inevitably of Kuper Academy’s results so far this season. In nine previous games, Kuper had won eight, scoring a whopping 82 goals in the process. Alessio Servello (2G, 1A) scored the first two goals of the game to send Kuper on their way. James Barker made 25 saves on 25 shots for the shutout victory.
RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (0) vs OHA Edmonton (2) U18 Prep
In both of the previous two matchups between RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg and OHA Edmonton’s U18 Prep teams, OHA Edmonton prevailed, contributing to the struggles RHAW have gone through at the beginning of the season. The story of Saturday’s game lay largely in the OHAE crease. Dysen Loewen made 30 saves on 30 shots for OHAE, and while the RHAW defences and Chase Charriere (25/27) produced nothing to be ashamed of, Loewen’s shutout provided OHAE an unbeatable cushion. Keenan Fox (1G, 1A) and Zack Niecklar scored second-period goals for OHAE to help them win 2-0.
Notre Dame Hounds (2) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (14) U15
The Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 team have bounced back strong following their 6-1 loss at the hands of OHA Edmonton on October 31, beating OHAE 5-4 the next day and Calgary International Hockey Academy on Friday. NAX notched two goals apiece from Kendon Peacock (2G, 3A), Mason Zimmer (2G, 2A), Myer Hipkins (2G, 1A) and Cale Royer en route to a 14-2 win, their third straight to start November.
Edge School (3) vs RINK Hockey Academy Winnipeg (7) U15
RHA Winnipeg takes care of business on this Saturday night at home. Edge was looking to flip the script of the first two matchups these teams had in September, but they’re quickly reminded how good RHA Winnipeg is. They score three in the first period followed by another three to go up by six. Captain Nash Smook (1G, 1A), Yuto Agapito (1G, 1A) and top scorer Brock Labelle (1G, 1A) all score and add assist to their point total of the year in this seven-goal dominating win. Nash Klimpke (1G) prevents a shutout by Cooper Beardy (13/16) by scoring late in the third before two of his teammates add goals in a penalty filled final five minutes of the game. Edge will certainly have some momentum going into their next game as they finished strong with three goals in the final ten minutes after a bad start.
Ontario Hockey Academy Mavericks (3) vs Fort Erie International Academy (1) East U18 Prep
OHA and FEIA run it back at the Fort Erie Leisureplex as they play for a second time in as many days. OHA came out on top yesterday and was looking to do the same in FEIA’s building. Oliver Gregor Janac (2G) puts his team on his back when he opens the scoring halfway through the opening period and doubling down when he scored the game winning goal to start the third. Yuri Baunov (1G), who tied it in the second period, scored his team leading ninth goal of the season.
St. George’s School (6) vs North Shore Warriors (3) U18 Prep
Both teams coming into this duel on losing streaks were looking to turn things around. They both had good reasons to believe they could get the job done as their last confrontation went the distance when St. George’s won in a shootout. Same result tonight as North Shore score first but give up the four following goals. Byron Chin (2G, 1A) and Isaac Derksen (1G, 2A) contributed in that 4-goal streak to put their team on top and never look back. The effort was there for North Shore as Sidney Bellfoy (1G, 1A) and Charlie Daoust (1G, 1A) both record a goal and an assist in the losing effort.
North Shore Warriors (3) vs STAR Hockey Academy (1) U15
Two struggling teams faceoff on a Saturday night to try and get their season going. Both teams getting shutout in their last game look to bounce back. North Shore’s offence gets help from their blue line as defensemen Max Darlow (2G) scores the game winner and the insurance goal in an empty net from 200 foot out. Ayaan Rao (24/25) who earns the victory on home soil stops all but one shot he faced tonight.
Ontario Hockey Academy (2) vs Stanstead College (5) East U18 Prep
Stanstead defends home ice with a second win in the season series against OHA. Dimitri Pavlov (2G) continues to score at a good pace this season with another multi goal game, Aaron Chipp (2G) does the same as they score four of their team’s five goals. OHA was never really in this game, Noah Nathaniel (1G) scored his team’s first goal after 40 minutes down 3-0 and Mathieu Boudreault (1G) scored his first goal of the season with only three minutes left to make it 5-2.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (5) vs South Alberta Hockey Academy (9) U18 Prep
Rivalry game in Medicine Hat as CIHA visits SAHA on a Saturday night which means a lot of action, and this one did not disappoint. Both teams combine for 14 goals and 50 penalty minutes. Top pointers in this one include Carson Ward (3G) who records a hat trick and Sully Kufflick (2G, 1A) who showcases his goal scoring touch as well as his passing talents. Ward’s second goal was a big one to close out the opening frame with a two-goal lead and chase goaltender Ben Hakes (4/8) out of this one.
Calgary International Hockey Academy (2) vs OHA Edmonton (3) U17 Prep
CIHA (5-0-0-0) come to Edmonton and put their perfect record on the line against OHA (0-1-2-1) who were feeling good considering their losing record having only one loss in regular time. OHA prooved they were feeling good for a reason when they jumped to a 3-0 thanks to Jayden Brown’s (1G) and Kaedyn Scherer’s (1G) first goals of the season. However, CIHA didn’t have a perfect record for no reason as they climb out of that whole to bring the game within one. But Owen Amyotte (44/46) shuts the door and finally OHA get their first win of the season.
Northern Alberta Xtreme (6) vs Pilot Mound Hockey Academy (0) Female U18 Prep
The unfortunate streak of shutouts continues for Pilot Mound as they get shutout for a sixth game in a row. We can’t attribute this cold streak to a lack of shooting as they put 35 shots on goal, but Ayla Whitney (35/35) stops them all. NAX put up the same number of shots, but the difference was: they were able to put six past Rehn Hall (29/35). This convincing win on the road comes at a good time for NAX as they flip the script of the two-game losing streak they were on.
Indigenous Sports Academy (3) vs Northern Alberta Xtreme (6) U17 Prep
ISA and NAX faceoff at GFL Twin Arena tonight for a U17 Prep battle. NAX jump out to an early 2-0 lead, but the resilient Indigenous Sport Academy comeback with back-to-back goals of their own. NAX do it again, they score two and get the lead back, but again ISA fights back and scores but ultimately fall short. Both goalies were good tonight, Lenox Alanen (29/32) earns the victory as his opponent Holden Fauchon (42/48) stops 42 shots in the losing effort. Only two players record multi point game, one for each team. Paiden Doore (2A) from ISA and Eli Piquette (2A) from NAX.
Coeur d’Alene Hockey Academy (2) vs St. George’s School (3) U15
St. George’s upsets Coeur d’Alene and its three big time players. St. George’s looking for their second win of the season against the top three pointers in U15, and they get the job done. They hold them to only four points even though they have cumulated over 120 points this season. This game was an all-out goalie battle. Rhys Williams (38/40) stops 38 shots, that’s good for a 0.950 save percentage and earns him the win. 200 feet away Harrison Dalton (39/42) stands tall for a 0.929 save percentage.
RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna (3) vs BWC Academy (2) U18 Prep
Heavyweight battle in Burnaby, British Columbia as the top two team’s faceoff against each other, and this one did not disappoint. Defensively BWC Academy was very strong, they faced the strong RHA Kelowna power play six times and did not let in a goal, though they allowed 50 shots. A big contributor to theses penalty kill was Josh Wu (47/50) who kept his team in the game for 60 minutes. They started the final period tied at one, but in a two-minute span RHA Kelowna’s Reid Rabinovitch (1G) and Ayden Saran (1G) were able to get two pucks past Wu and that was enough to earn the victory even though Declan Iacoviello (1G) cut the lead in half with 8 minutes left in the game.
North Shore Warriors (4) vs STAR Hockey Academy (2) U15 Prep
Two one-win team met Seattle, home of Star Hockey Academy. The visiting team was able to pull through and secure its second win of the season. After a quiet first period, the two teams traded goals to end the middle frame tied at 2-2. Back-to-back goals from CDA by Preston Dalebout and Brayden Lee tied the game with 6:19 left in the frame. However, STAR would grab the lead heading into the second as Sean McIntyre (2G, 1A) and Hunter Hoggan (2G) scored 45 seconds apart late in the frame. Adam Pflugrath-Davis scored on the power play 12:05 into the second to bring CDA within one.
